Movin' on up...

Well we're movin' on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment cubicle in the sky-y-y.

Please excuse my lame tribute to The Jefferson's but I feel it's somewhat appropriate for this little (and I stress little) occasion.  After almost 5 years of "slummin'" in a wee little 6 x 6 foot cubicle I moved into a larger cubicle today.  Not just a larger cubicle but a cube with a view.  Ooooooo, ahhh.  I now have an actual window to daydream gaze out of as I work.  And I get cabinets too!  Can this really be true?  Have I just won the lottery or what?  (I really hope you are picking up on the sarcasm here...)

Oh my goodness... my poor truck !!!

Look what someone did to my truck!!  When I came out of work to the parking lot this afternoon, look what I find!  No note, no nothing!  How it happened, or even when, I have no idea.  I'm certainly not surprised, I hate to say.  We've had all sorts of stuff like this happen in our office parking lot.  Stuff like fender benders, door dings, dents, etc.  But this... someone had to try pretty hard to do this!  From the way it looks, someone dropped something from up high to make this damage happen!

The crappy thing about blogs...

...is they are public for all the world to see. Any ole person who stumbles across it can read to their hearts content. That really sucks when you want to complain about, oh, I don't know... WORK! There are so many things I want to say but I know it's probably not a good idea. I'm just not sure how much more of this crap I can put up with.

Mystery of the nasty virus-like anomaly SOLVED!

And I am none too happy about it! Turns out that Trend Micro, makers of the OfficeScan anti-virus program we use here at home, sent out a bad update file. The moment that update file was applied it caused our PC's to go into a continuous loop, eating up all CPU. How ironic that the very company who is supposed to be keeping my PC healthy, is the very company that that killed it!  And to think I formatted my laptop and started all over due to someone's stupid screw-up!

For full details you can check out this article.

She lives...

Well, much to my dismay, I had to completely reformat  my laptop, starting over from scratch, to get it back to normal. Rob was able to restore his back to normal using an XP restore point from a week ago. I don't know why but I only had about 6 days worth of restore points and NONE of them worked. All of the prior restore points I had created were simply GONE! That really freaked me out because I am obsessive about creating them for this very reason. Oh well, it's over and I'm back up so I guess I can move on now.

On a much lighter note, we had Rob's parents, his brother and sister-in-law over for lunch today. I can't believe how big my little niece Kaitlin is getting. Two of my cats really enjoyed the visit because they got to play with Kaitlin's toys, as you can see below.

Both Hobbes and Mazy made themselves comfortable on the "ExerSaucer" pretty quick.  Poor Emma, my other cat, stayed behind the refrigerator the entire day.  That is her typical hiding spot whenever the vacuum comes on so when she heard "strangers" in the house she took off for her safe place.  It took an entire hour for her to come back out after everyone had left.  Poor thing...

Well, it's been a really long week and despite being on "vacation" we did a lot of hard work to get the house in shape.  Unfortunately it's back to work tomorrow.  On that note I think I'm going to follow Kaitlin's lead in the picture below and hit the hay now.  G'night all.

Nasty worm/virus has attacked the Walters' PC's

Well, we're not exactly sure what it is but it appears some sort of virus, worm or something has attacked the computers at casa de Walters! :(

I'm posting this from Blackberry because my laptop is toast at the moment, thanks to this damn thing. Rob and I both tried doing System Restores, which seemed to fix my sister's PC when hers got hosed... No luck on either one of ours. Rob is deep in "geek" mode trying to figure this out and with any luck he'll come through like the true Uber-Geek that he is. In the meantime I'll be chomping at the bit, not-so-patiently waiting to get my PC back to normal. :(

If you suddenly notice your PC locks up and the processor usage stays at 100% no matter what you do, you may have it too. We didn't even install anything or open any suspicious emails. I was just shopping at Amazon.com and WHAM! Don't think a firewall or anti-virus software will save ya either cause ours was no help on this one. Help!

Spring cleaning... six years in the making!

Rob and I have been on vacation all this week. Unfortunately, it wasn't to enjoy a tropical getaway on some lonely island but quite the opposite. We spent the entire week doing a thorough "Spring Cleaning" throughout our house. We're on the final stretch now with only a weekend between us and returning to hell work. You can see the mountain of garbage we set out this morning, much to the chagrin of our local garbage collectors.

Insane, isn't it?  We really aren't total slobs, just pack rats I guess.  We sort of took the "if-I-haven't-used-it-in-a-year-it must-go" attitude this time, hence the massive amount of crap you see up there.  Much of it probably could have been sold at a yard sale but neither one of us have the time or patience to have one.

Well, I reckon I've rested long enough.  Time to get back to work...

Wow...

I just had to try posting an entry from my Blackberry to see if I could do it and to my surprise it worked! I'm actually laying in the bed with no computer in sight. How neat is that? Or maybe I'm just easily amused...

A slight change to the PixelBrat logo

I've made a slight change to my PixelBrat logo to include one of my latest and coolest gadgets.  I recently sold my boring old Sony T610 cell phone and got a Blackberry 7290.  This puppy is sweet!! In addition to replacing my cell phone, it also replaces my old RIM 950 work pager so that's one less device I have to carry around.  These little handheld's have been lovingly nicknamed  "Crackberries" by users due to their addictive nature.  Heck, what's not to love?  I can surf the web, use it as a phone, get all my email, play games, etc, all in the palm of my hand.  You name it, it probably does it.  I've only had it couple of weeks but I'm completely in love.  Because I'm so enamored with my new gadget I decided to add it to my logo, removing the old mouse that was there.  I also flipped it around and gave her a smile.  Below you can see the before and after.

Before

After

I had a lot of fun playing around with the logo.  I guess because it's been so long since I've done any graphic work, now that I'm no longer creating/selling stickers.  I've missed it.  I also made a little brat "favicon" to go with it.  If you're wondering what that is, it's the little tiny icon up in the address bar of your browser, next to the URL.  It will also be saved if you add my site to your favorites/bookmarks. (hence the term "favicon")  Neat, huh?

I guess I shouldn't make a habit of putting my gadgets on my logo, cause anyone who knows me knows that I'd never be able to fit them all in!  Not to mention how often I "recycle" them when I get bored with them.  I'd be changing the damn thing every week!

Neat MovableType stuff

MovableType is the program/interface I use for my blog. It's extremely customizable but not really for the beginner. It will do some really neat stuff if you have the inclination to learn it. The last time I had a blog I had constant problems with spam inundating the comments on all my posts. Well, I just discovered a neat little plugin that will automatically close the comments after 5 days. This means if you want to comment on an entry, you've got 5 days from the day I post it to add a comment. After 5 days, it closes the comments so they can no longer be added. Pretty cool.

Hey, this sounds like a good time to bring up the mailing list! If you would like to receive an email whenever I post a new entry please click on the Contact Me link on the main page in the upper right hand corner to send me an email saying you'd like to be added. I promise I'll keep your email address safe. Trust me, I hate spam as much as you do.

PixelBrat's Blog: Take Two

Hi there and welcome to my new blog design. Yes, I know, I said several months ago that my blogging days were over. I guess I've had a change of heart. That's a woman's prerogative, right? I figure, if nothing else, it will let my family know what I'm up to since they are always accusing me of being anti-social by "sitting up in Buford with my head up my ass." Will I update this one any more often than the last one? Nah, probably not. Oh, and I probably won't allow comment posting since they are a magnet for spammers. I don't know about you but I get enough of that crap in my inbox.

For this blog-go-round I decided to change the design from my last blog. You may notice things changing a bit here and there for a little while as I learn more about CSS. (Cascading Style Sheets) Therefore please bear with me as I play around with the site design a bit. It's been fun but not something I plan on doing for long.

Oh, I almost forgot... Rob and I signed up for the Basic Motorcycle Class!! We'll be taking it mid May and if we pass, we'll both be licensed to ride! You know what that means, don't you? There will be a new bike in my future! Woo hoo!!

OK, enough for now.
